In spring, the City begins street sweeping which can take up to eight weeks, weather permitting.
Each spring, the City of Edmonton provides street cleaning services that clear debris and dust from roads, bike lanes and major pathways, making them cleaner and safer for all modes of transportation.
Residents can help do their part by moving their vehicles and providing our crews plenty of room to work as we clear sand and debris from our city’s boulevards and streets.
Edmontonians can view the schedule on the Street Sweeping map to see when street sweeping will be coming to their community.
Check this map during street sweeping to see which roads have been swept. Major road closures will be posted on the City's Twitter account and at #yegtraffic.
To avoid traffic impacts, major roads are swept at night; residential roads and alleyways are cleaned during the day.
Please do not park on the street when street sweepers are scheduled to be in your area.

Sweep crews will first sweep boulevards and hard surface areas adjacent to roads and move sand and other debris into the path of street sweepers. This helps keep the roadway boulevard green and healthy while removing dead vegetation and accumulated litter.
Residential roads will be swept during the day. Motorists can expect to see peace officers, flashing lights and blocked lanes on high-volume and high-speed roads.
The City has measures in place to minimize dust, but street sweepers can still create dusty conditions that reduce visibility. If you see dust, slow down and drive for conditions. We recommend closing windows and walking on alternative sidewalks. Always give our equipment plenty of space - in front, behind and on both sides.
When crews are scheduled to be in your residential area, please move your vehicles off the street so they can do a thorough job. If you have driveway ramps in front of your home, please remove them so crews have room to complete cleaning in your area. Sweeping schedules will be posted on neighbourhood signs and on this page. Please note that each neighbourhood has a designated week for residential sweeping, but if crews are ahead of schedule, sweeping will start in the next neighbourhood early.
Street sweepings are not accepted from private parking lots or non-City or City-contracted equipment. These sweepings can be taken to the following locations:
