All dead, dying and stressed trees are recorded and either removed or monitored.

About the Service

Forestry personnel assess City-owned boulevard and open space trees on an biennial basis. The trees on the west side of the city are assessed on odd years, while the trees on the east side are assessed on even years. This program runs from mid-June to the end of September. Trees that are dead are updated in forestry's tree inventory and are queued for removal.

The information gathered by the tree assessment team can be used to make decisions about tree care.

Information on tree pests are also provided to pest management staff for monitoring and treatment.

Any tree assessed as posing a liability or hazard to persons or property will be removed on a priority basis.
