Lot Grading - Final Grade Inspection

Final Grade Inspections are conducted by Lot Grading Inspectors for the City of Edmonton. These inspections enforce the Drainage Bylaw to verify that the lot is graded in accordance to the approved Lot Grading Plan and Lot Grading Guidelines.

1. A City Lot Grading Inspector will conduct a visual site inspection within 5 working days from receipt of the request, depending on weather conditions and workload.
2. The homeowner or applicant will receive a Lot Grading Inspection Report indicating that the property's lot grading is passed or failed.

Note: After the Final Grade Approval is issued, it is the homeowner's responsibility to maintain the surface grades in perpetuity. The City of Edmonton may at any time, require maintenance or enforcement of repairs on the lot grading if alterations or settlements result in lot grading problems.

Lot Grading Inspection fees are required for Single-detached housing and Semi-detached housing, which includes both Rough and Final Grade Inspections and re-inspections.
