Find your way around the river valley with this selection of comprehensive, seasonal trail maps.
Enjoy our gorgeous, expansive river valley in this series of maps. The maps highlight the parks, trails, boat launches and attractions in the River Valley from the Anthony Henday Drive in southwest Edmonton to Hermitage Park in northeast Edmonton.
Designed to support mobility for all, these maps provide information on trails and trail slope or grade (degree of steepness).
Paved trails in the River Valley Parks are 2.5m to 3m wide asphalt surfaces with a yellow centre line.
Other trails are granular (non-paved) with rough gravel surfaces and may not be appropriate for wheelchair users without assistance.
Check the legend to see which symbols designate paved and non-paved trails.
Grades are identified on the map as:
Grades of less than 5% are not indicated on the map - changes to slopes are generally gradual and should not be a challenge to most users.
Full size copies (31" x 20") of these maps are available at all City Libraries, Recreation and Leisure Centres, Community Services Offices, and some Retailers.

As one of the six River Valley Connections initiatives, the East End Trails Project has added approximately 16 kilometres of trails to the river valley in east Edmonton. New asphalt and gravel trails were funded in partnership with the City of Edmonton, River Valley Alliance, the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada.
The trails officially opened to the public in fall 2018 and will be accessible year-round.
The West End Trails project added approximately 5 km of primary (paved) and secondary (gravel) trails to the river valley main trail.
The north extensions link Terwillegar Park with the Fort Edmonton Footbridge. The south extensions connect Terwillegar Park to the Anthony Henday pedestrian river crossing.
