Sirens for Life Campaign

Did you know that 1 person who is seriously injured in a vehicle collision, could need as many as 50 blood donations to help save their life?

First Responders across Canada participate in this annual campaign to roll up their sleeves and donate blood. Citizens are encouraged to sign up and donate as well, in support of their emergency service providers. 

In Edmonton, this partnership involves Canadian Blood Services, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, Edmonton Police Services, Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services, STARS Ambulance, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Learn more.

Burn Awareness Week

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, in partnership with the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Society, will be hosting Burn Awareness Week from February 6 to 12, 2022.

This year's theme, as selected by the American Burn Association, is “Burning Issues in the Kitchen!”

In 2021, Edmonton experienced more than 130 cooking-related fires. These fires caused over $4.8 million in damages. Learn about cooking safety and how to reduce the risk of fire.

Fire Cadet Program

The Edmonton Fire Cadet program (a partnership between Edmonton Fire Rescue Service and ATCO) is an opportunity for high school students to learn about Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, while developing important life skills. Through career internships and work experience, fire cadets have the opportunity to earn up to 6 high school credits for their involvement in the program.

The Edmonton Firefighters Memorial Society holds this annual remembrance service to honour the active and retired members from Edmonton Fire Rescue Services who have passed away during the past year.

The ceremony takes place at the Firefighters Memorial Plaza (10318 83 Avenue NW) at 10am.
